Wise men say “Life is a balance”
Wise men say “Life is a balance”
What is this balance?
Balance between good and evil.
Balance between happiness and sorrow.
Balance between income and expenses.
Balance between the time (work Vs home).
I was reminded about a Tamil Proverb
"Allavuku merinal amithamum nanju"
Meaning,
“ Too much of anything is good for nothing”
Which again states that there should be a balance.
When a patient in on CPB, and the heart is not beating, body is cold, I wonder where is life – Is it still with the patient or it is in the heart-lung machine?
During Transplantation both the heart and lungs are taken out of the body. Is there something called as a soul (life) then and if yes then where is it now?
Is it with the heart-lung machine? How come a non living thing controls a living soul?
The answers to the above questions is the
- BALANCE BETWEEN PHYSICS AND PHYSIOLOGY
- BALANCE BETWEEN MAN AND MACHINE
- BALANCE BETWEEN DRAINAGE AND RETURN
- BALANCE BETWEEN HOT AND COLD
- BALANCE BETWEEN RED AND BLUE
So the life (soul), lies in the above balance and this balance is maintained silently by a person called the
“PERFUSIONIST”
Have you ever observed a peculiar silence in the operation room when a Perfusionist initiates Cardiopulmonary Bypass and takes control of the patients on the heart-lung machine?
This is the silence to achieve the balance of life.
I wish all my fellow Perfusionists a *Good work life balance*
“Balance is not something you find, its something you create”
